SC317 (SCS Sketch Challenge)

I am trying to keep my 2011 New Year's Resolution of being more creative and keeping my Blog updated in 2011. To accomplish this, I find the SCS challenges to be an excellent source of inspiration; I eagerly look forward to the weekly Sketch challenges.

I needed to make a card for my daughter's 'in-laws' to thank them for the wonderful Christmas gifts they gave DH and me. Her MIL reads a lot so I decided to make a 'Book Mark' Thank You Card.

Cut card stock to 5 1/2" x 11"
Score at 4 1/4.

Use preforated blade to make preforations at 8 1/2". This will become your 'Detachable Book Mark'.

Decorate as desired.

Peace on Earth

I've completed my February cards for the SCS monthly Christmas Card Challenge. I also incorporated one of the Sketch Challenges (SC316), and the 'Try a New Technique' Challenge (TLC308).

3-In-1

I finally decided to post these two pictures but I am not pleased with the way this card turned out.

I decided to incorporate three of the Splitcoaststampers challenges into one: Clean & Simple (CAS102), Try a New Technique (TLC308), and Ways to Use it (WT305).

Wellness Wishes

One of my New Year's Resolutions for 2011 is to be more creative with my crafting and not CASE as often. I decided to pull out my Lap of Luxury DSP and participate in the Split Coast Stampers Weekly Wednesday Sketch Challenge (SC314). Here are my submissions. I also decided to make a stationery box for the cards. Since I plan to use this DSP for a set of cards to give away as a gift, I kept the same color scheme for the stationery box.

iTunes Gift Card Holder

I had a hard time trying to match up my card stock with the iTunes gift cards for my daughter and son-in-law. I decided to use Melon Mambo for hers and Wild Wasabi for his. These gift cards are larger than the normal ones so here are the measurements I used:

6 1/2" x 9" card stock
Score on the 9 1/4" side at 1 1/2" and 5 3/8"
Decorate as desired.

I attached the image panel to the ribbon on the front. Once untied, the gift card holder can be easily opened.

Christmas Money/Gift Card Holder

My Mother has everything she could possibly want so, for Christmas, DH and I usually give her a small gift and money. I usually try to find a creative way to present the money so that It takes on the appearance of a gift. SCS CCC11 Christmas Card Challenge

I've already started making my Christmas Cards for 2011. It was great getting an early start for 2010 and having most of the work done before December. This year I will strive to complete the insides of my cards.

I cased this card from the SCS Gallery found here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1832966?perpage=48&thumbsonly=0&thumbcheck=. I love SU!'s Cherry Cobbler and the Christmas Season gave me plenty of reason to use it. I'll have to find another Fav since Spring will be here soon.

Cookie Boxes

I am trying to get inspired to do my holiday baking, decorating, and shopping. I ran across this cookie box and decided to make a couple. Directions can be found here: http://inkingoutofthebox.com/cookie-box-tutorial.

I used So Saffron and Basic Black card stock on the first box. I also used the Martha Steward Butterfly punch and a border stamp from Stampin' Up!

The second box is made using Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White card stock. The flower was made using the Stampin' Up! Scallop punch and Whisper White card stock.

Cookies...

DH made another batch of Sugar Cookies using the recipe from my MS Cookies App. I snapped a photo of what's left because he and I have been snacking on them... a lot.

My New Toy

I know it's not yet Christmas but I do have a new toy... an IPad and I love it! I am still learning how to use it and today I decided to download a free 'Journal' app. I am really bad about posting on my blog but I think I will add entries to my Journal on a regular basis.

One of the first apps I purchased was the "Martha Stewart Cookies" app. DH was just as excited about it as I was and he cooked a batch of Sugar Cookies directly after I purchased the app. I wish I had taken a picture of them... they were delish!

Praying for You

Just playing around with some of my dies and embossing folders and a stamp I purchased at Hobby Lobby last week while they were 50% off. I've got to find the time do ink up some of my SU stamps that I've had forever but never used.

In Agreement

I decided to mirror-image the Dove from the SU! Peaceful Season stamp set and title my card "In Agreement". To have "Peace on Earth" we have to be "In Agreement".

Caring Thoughts

I decided to tackle a couple of the challenges posted on SCS. I combined this week's color challenge (CC296) with the sketch challenge from a couple of weeks ago (SC295).

I don't mean to neglect my blog but I find that I don't take the time to be as creative as I can be. Since this card was relatively easy to make, I'll probably make nine more for this month's Christmas Card Challenge.

Sweet Treat Birthday Wishes

My SIL loves Skittles so for his birthday I made him a card using the Sweet Treat Cups from Stampin' Up! He loved it...especially the Skittles. I even incorporated a part of the Skittles bag on the front of the card.
