Extra! Extra! Read All About it!

Guess what?  My husband was cast as an extra in an up-coming Tyler Perry movie.  He spent the entire day at the studio on Monday and part of the day on Tuesday.  It's not a speaking role... just a couple of scenes that included him.  We are hoping that his scenes do not get cut from the movie.  I'll keep you informed.

My husband... the actor!!!  WOW!!!

I've got a couple of projects that I've just completed but I'll have to post pictures tomorrow.  Right now I think I will retire.  We've had some interesting weather these past few hours... thunderstorms... dangerous lightening strikes... golf-ball size hail... winds up to 52 mph... tornado threats... rain...  The warnings are over for now, thank God!

Look What I got Today!

I had a great Mother's Day but it did not end with the weekend.  I was working in my yard today when this was delivered to me.  Look at it!  It's Beautiful!  It's Delicious!  This was sent to me compliments of our daughters and their hubbies.

Thanks, Angela & Lorenzo, Mia & Chadz.  I Love It!

All Inclusive

Below are notes I took from my Pastor's Sermon this morning

Pastor Micheal Benton, Fairfield Baptist Church
6133 Redan Road, Lithonia, GA 30058

Scripture: Romans 1:14-17
  • (14) I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
  • (15) So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome.
  • (16) For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
  • (17) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
All Inclusive. That was the topic of my Pastor's message this morning. He talked about the discomforts, frustrations, trials and tribulations, headaches, stomaches, and uncontrollable pains we feel in our bodies and how we go to doctors seeking relief. If we don't feel well, our performance and production are affected... we don't smile and are not happy. Pain causes us to live in bondage and come short of our desired goals. Sin has invaded our lives and causes us to lose focus on God; because of the sins man brings to the human race, we cannot fulfill God's destiny of the human race.

When Adam acted on sin, sickness took place in his body and Adam hid from God. That's the same thing we do today... we sin and hide from God. The Book of Romans is God's prescription for the ills of man. We are sick people in need of this prescription from God. The Romans did not have health care but Israel did. God saw this, raised up Apostle Paul, gave him the prescription and told him to take it to the Romans. God has a remedy for the entire world. He gave instruction to Moses to tell the Children of Israel that He had them covered. If we are children of God, we are covered. If we are children of God, we ought not to worry. If we worry, we ought not pray... if we pray we ought not worry.

In Verse 14, Paul lets us know that he is accountable to somebody - he did not get to where he was on his own; somebody helped him get there. Each of us needs and has needed somebody who helped us when we could not do for ourselves. We owe much to parents, teaches, spouses, children, Pastors, friends - those who laid the foundation and we wouldn't be the same today without those who have stood behind us all these years. For this same reason, we ought not to sit down on God because he was on the scene long before others in our lives were there. He has had the healing prescription since the beginning of time and if we take this medicine, we can be healed.

God gives us hope regardless of what side we are on. if we get the Word of God on the inside of us, it will work sin out of us. Paul said we need to be delivered because sin will put us in bondage. We don't want to go to doctors who have no prescription; we want to go to somebody who can help us with our ailments. The Gospel of Jesus Christ will take jealousy out of our spirits and worry out of our minds. It can do anything - it is 'All Inclusive'... God's love is 'All Inclusive'.

Verse 14 and 15 tells us we need to be delivered. Verse 16 tells us we have Power... Power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes... God gives us power and if we lean not to our own understanding He will direct our paths. Verse 17 tells us to 'just' live by faith... things we don't have but by faith believe they will be. The Word of God is just like taking a pill for our aches and pain... it will never deliver, heal, or set us free until we get it on the inside. The Word of God is 'All Inclusive', get it on the inside of you and it will give you strength whenever you need it.

I hope you enjoyed this excerpt from my Pastor's sermon.

My Mother's Day Treat

Today was a wonderful day for me. Tomorrow is Mother's Day so we had our intimate family outing today... my husband, our two daughters and two sons-in-law. We started out with lunch at Sweet Tomatoes at Perimeter Mall then went to see 'IRON MAN'. One of our daughters and SIL treated us to the movie. I must admit, the food was great and the movie was AWESOME!

After the movie, DH and I went to Michael's because we had some Michael's 40% and Martha Stewart 50% off coupons that we needed to use (today's the last day). Low and behold, our other daughter and SIL showed up at Michael's and purchased the MS Edge Punch and MS Craft Punch that I had in my cart ready to buy. My gift from DH was money on my card that I use to order stuff from the internet. I had a good day. Our plans are to spend Mother's Day tomorrow with my Mother.

Happy Mother's Day to all.

Fragrant Pens

I found the neatest idea on Dawn's Blog http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com. I decided to take it a step further by doing the following:

1. Be kind to the earth and recycled and decorated a veggie can to be used as my flower vase.
2. Added a drop of rose-scented candle fragrance to the center of flowers.

I have placed a 'bouquet' of flowers in my craft room, den, kitchen (near the telephone), and in the office. I also placed one of the pens in my car so that I can enjoy the aroma while driving.

Stamps used: Enjoy Every Moment
Cardstock: SU!; DCWV, Vellum
Inks: SU! Markers
Punches: SU! Corners; Butterfly (unknown); Nestabilities Scallop Die
Silk Flowers: Old Time Pottery
Pens: Sam's Club

These are really easy to make, pleasing to smell, and really pretty to look at. Thanks, Dawn.

Recipes, Anyone!!!

This is to keep my favorite recipes in.  My intent is to go to various family members (including my two daughters) and ask them to add their favorite recipes to my collection.  My #1 recipe will be my Mother's Old-Fashioned Home-Made Tea-Cakes, Fried Pies (using dried peaches and dried apples) and the 'Dressing' she makes for special occasions, Thanksgiving, and Christmas each year.  Let me know if you are interested in seeing copies of these recipes on my blog.

I cased the card from the 2007 SU catalog and used it as the front for my recipe book.  The stamp sets used:  "Voila" and "Voila to Go".

Thinking of You

I've got a few stamp sets that I really love but rarely use.  Seaside Sketches is on the SU! Dormant List so I decided to combine it with Essence of Love for Friday's LSC166 Spotlight on Circles Challenge.

Card size is A2 ( 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4").  I used the masking technique and stamped my image on white cardstock.  I water-colored the image with re-inkers then used my round and scalloped-round Nestabilities to cut it out.  I used my CAD to punch holes (circles) in the scallops.  I had ribbon roses that I had purchased from the Fabric Department at JoAnn's and added to the sides of the circles (note: roses are round).

TFL.

Inch Inch Moo

This is a card I made during the Scrap chic Card Club taught by Sally at Scrap Chic Boutique a couple of weeks ago I must admit I didn't too much care for it at first but it has grown on me.  I'll probably follow this format and make more cards so that I can use up some of the million scraps of DSP I have but don't want to throw away.  I know the title of this post may sound funny to some (it did to me) but Sally said this is the name of this technique.

Sally's card can be found here: http://sllybean.blogspot.com/2008_04_13_archive.html
